My only exposure to Steinbeck was when I read The Red Pony a long time ago. It was in a collection of horse-related stories I had, and it traumatized me. I've had a negative view of Steinbeck ever since, but I suppose I shouldn't let a single story read when I was about ten stop me from reading him forever. I've heard Of Mice and Men is really good.

Re: Jandy’s Meanderings » Last Paper In!

Congratulations. I send in my last paper today too. It feels good. I spent the last hour organizing my computer desktop. Abby was hoping it was my real desk top. Maybe I'll get to that tomorrow. And I need to go to the book store and pick me out a book.

For your reading enjoyment I recommend John Steinbeck. Try Pastures of Heaven, Tortilla Flat, or The Wayward Bus. Winter of our Discontent and Cannery Row are good too. I'll probably pick another one of his myself. I haven't read Grapes of Wrath or Of Mice and Men so maybe I ought to read one of those. Though it is also a good time to read a baseball book.
