Godard tends to throw musical numbers into his films, even though none of them are really musicals.  &lt;i&gt;A Woman is a Woman&lt;/i&gt; comes closest, but it's really an anti-musical--the musical sections disrupt the narrative rather than further it.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;And don't worry; I'm still not sure I get the film overall, and I've been reading about it like crazy (I'm sort of obsessed with it and writing a paper about it in a few weeks).  If you haven't seen anything by Godard, don't start with this one.
