Jandy's Meanderings: Blogging is Life-Changing

I am glad you were happy to be "it"! I like the way that you are still able to incorporate your ever increasing knowledge of film into a broader context. Ultimately, much of the way that you write is still shaped by a solid foundation of understanding literature and literary theory! But, that's why I like the way that you write - it is intelligent and thoughtful. And i have to say, you give me much to pursue in so far as the ability to write clearly and concisely....did anyone say I could be a little verbose.

I was just glad to be tagged for one of these things that was actually interesting! And thanks, I think grad school did exactly what I wanted it to in that sense - give me the foundation for literature (and related things like film) that I could use to write in a less formal way for a less specialized audience. But before I didn't have that foundation and didn't know where to start.

And please, did you not see this post? Verbose indeed - certainly more so than yours! I kept thinking "I should edit this down, it's too long," but did I? No. I still have trouble editing myself.

Jandy, I really liked the third observation... about blogging being a place where one could experiment with and shape identity. Maybe it's a little like improv... taking roles and seeing which ones ultimately fit.

Right. It's not really about being someone totally different (i.e., lying to your readers about who you are), it's about testing who you are and pushing your own limits.
